The Fundamental Foot Care Nurse Training Program is a 5-day in-person course held at our Hampden, Maine location. Each day runs from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The first day focuses on essential theory, covering anatomy, assessment, infection control, and best practices in medical foot care. Days 2 through 5 are dedicated to hands-on clinical training with real clients, providing participants with practical, supervised experience in delivering professional foot care services.
To ensure a high-quality learning experience and personalized instruction, class sizes are limited to a maximum of six participants. This small-group setting allows for direct mentorship and individualized feedback throughout the week. Each nurse will complete a total of 32 hands-on training hours, meeting the practical requirements for foot care nurse certification while building the confidence and skills needed to deliver safe, effective care.
Upon successful completion of the 5-day training, including all required hands-on hours and skill assessments, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion, qualifying them to apply for national certification through the American Foot Care Nurses Association (AFCNA). Our program aligns with AFCNA’s standards and prepares nurses to meet the clinical experience requirement necessary for becoming a Certified Foot Care Nurse (CFCN). We are proud to support nurses in advancing their credentials and joining a respected network of foot care professionals across the country.
All equipment and materials needed for the training are provided. Each participant will receive a professional foot care bag stocked with the essential tools and supplies required to perform safe and effective foot care. This kit is yours to keep and includes everything you need to begin seeing clients—whether you're launching your own foot care business or offering services through a healthcare facility.
